Treasure Caves sometimes give very low number of gems and support claims it's a feature not a bug.

I already posted this on reddit but I wanted to bring attention to the people who only come here as well.

Here are the 6 times I have gotten these ridiculous numbers:

All of these were in good runs. A few of them were even perfect or close to perfect, so it's not that I just didn't destroy anything on many turns.

The first 2 were before the latest update. Before they split us into 2 groups, this never occured to me. After that, it happened twice (we were in 2 different groups for about 2 months). Now, in a much shorter time, I've gotten this 4 more times.

Their response was " In the Treasure Caves you can win Ability Dust and Sun Gems or just Ability Dust. This is by design, everything is working as it should." How does this make any sense? I mean, even if this is not a bug, why do I almost always get 80-100 gems and it's never in the 40s, 50s or 60s? It would be much more likely to get several 50s instead of a few below 20 or even 0. Also, in these terrible runs, there's no dust increase. So again, even if this is not a bug, it still doesn't make any sense.

Just another punch in the gut by king and snowprint...

  • You were in the high dust, low gold group, like me. Since the recent update, everyone is in the high gold, low dust group (with some other changes). Pay attention to how much gold you get now. This is the new reality. You get a lot of gold, but very little dust, which means you have to really pick and choose which abilities you will upgrade for which creatures. Overall, the paltry amount of dust will be an issue because everyone will stop progressing their creatures' abilities since there is not enough dust to go around to level abilities of epics and rares (let alone legendaries). My guess is that at some point they will have to adjust this and give more dust than they are.

Please, read what I wrote with more attention. I'm talking about gems not dust. I know very well that I was in the low gold group for 2 months getting behind the people in the high gold group.
  • Sorry -- my mistake. I don't understand what you are trying to say about the gems -- maybe there is something that is lost in translation. I never pay attention to the gems in treasure caves. It really comes down to how much time you spend farming on heroic difficulty. If you want to boost a creature, you just have to farm those levels everyday, 3x per day. It takes time, but it does pay off, especially for the epic creatures. I find that for Rock Gonch and Val, I get on average 1 gem per day (sometimes as many as three, sometimes 0, but it averages to 1 per day). If you are dedicated to playing those levels everyday, you will get the gems you need and you will get your creatures leveled up. Treasure caves, IMO is a lost cause at this point. There's not much reason to do treasure caves anymore except to get the daily quests bonus. It seems like I get more gems and dust from the quest chest than I do the treasure caves. Hopefully they will fix that down the road.

While you are correct and that you generally have the best chances over time to farm Heroics for those minions which you need, You really can accumulate a lot of gems for minions you want from Areas like Treasure Caves, and from chests earned in random game modes. While I think there was probably just some confusion on what Jagunço_Solgard is trying to convey, There used to be far more gems dropping in Treasure Caves than there currently is. It wasn't uncommon to regularly in almost every level of the "Black Caves" to have 90-150+ gems drop per Treasure Caves run. Now, it's strange to see runs where players get 0-20 gems. We don't know exactly how things were changed, but it's very clear that changes were made, and I believe that's what his post is trying to bring to light.

A lack of 60-100 gems for some folks per run is a significant decrease. It takes 2050 gems to upgrade 1 gem slot on a Level 6 Common. So missing out on possibly getting some of those gems does in fact hinder progress. While it likely was just some confusion, I feel for some players who have overall felt like there was little to no actual beneficial changes to the game with this v.1.6 patch. This is just highlighting one of those changes that caught players by surprise.
